At Sudbury Developmental Services, we believe that every person has unique strengths, talents, interests, and aspirations. Through person-directed planning and individualized supports, we work alongside adults with developmental disabilities to help them pursue meaningful opportunities, build relationships, develop skills, and participate fully in their communities.
For some individuals, this may mean pursuing paid employment. For others, it may involve volunteering, developing life skills, exploring new interests, building social connections, or increasing independence. Our focus is on supporting each person to achieve goals that are meaningful to them and reflective of the life they want to live.
How We Support Individuals
SDS supports individuals in exploring and achieving a wide range of personal, community, and employment goals, including:
By focusing on individual strenghts, interests, and goals, we help create opportunities that promote confidence, inclusion, belonging, and personal growth.
Supporting Adults Throughout Their Journey
Adults with developmental disabilities have diverse goals and aspirations. Whether an individual is seeking employment, exploring volunteer opportunities, developing independent living skills, participating in community activities, or building meaningful relationships, SDS provides personalized support designed around their unique needs and preferences.
Our approach recognizes that meaningful participation and belonging look different for every person. We are committed to helping individuals identify opportunities that contribute to a fulfilling, self-directed life and meaningful connections within their community.
Building Pathways for Youth and Young Adults
SDS is also expanding opportunities for youth and young adults through individualized and direct funding supports that help prepare for the transition to adulthood.
Working alongside families, schools, community partners, and funding agencies, we support young people in building skills, confidence, independence, and community connections that can help them pursue future goals.
These supports may include:
By creating opportunities for learning, participation, and personal growth, we help young people build strong foundations for a meaningful and self-directed adult life.
Partner With Us
Creating inclusive communities requires collaboration; SDS works with employers, community organizations, educational partners, volunteers, and local businesses to create opportunities where individuals can contribute, learn, grow, and belong.
If your organization is interested in providing employment opportunities, volunteer placements, community experiences, or partnership opportunities, we would welcome the opportunity to connect with you.
Together, we can create communities where every person is valued, respected, included, and empowered to reach their full potential.
